Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Health and Human Services (HHS) Helen Caulton-Harris, Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Judi Crowell, and Mayoral Aide Shenell Ford met with Springfield Pride Parade Founder and CEO Taurean Bethea and Trustee Terrence King today to continue discussions of promote the tremendous community-driven support of our LGBTQIA+ community, including the Safe Spaces Initiative.

Mayor Sarno states, “Always a pleasure to sit down and meet with Taurean Bethea and hear his vision and goals for enhancing and discussing our community-based initiatives for our LGBTQIA+ community.  As a proud and longtime member of the Mayors Against LGBTQ+ Discrimination, I am proud to stand in solidarity with our LGBTQIA+ community to help promote the Safe Space Initiative and provide support services for this in need.  I am looking forward to joining with Taurean, such a talented and wonderful young man, as we join with the Springfield Cultural Partnership, Springfield Pride Parade and Common Wealth Murals to install Pride crosswalks in downtown Springfield as part of our Pride Month celebration.”
