Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Chris Cignoli met with the members of the Greek Cultural Center and parishioners from Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral today to provide an update on the upcoming traffic and pedestrian enhancement project planned for Main Street and Plainfield Street in the North End. The project is nearing readiness with construction scheduled to begin in approximately five weeks.

Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank the members of our beloved Greek Cultural Center and the parishioners from Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral for inviting DPW Director Chris Cignoli and myself to visit and provide an update on the upcoming traffic and pedestrian enhancements scheduled to begin in the coming weeks – hey it’s all Greek to me!  After previously meeting with them to hear their concerns about the traffic on Plainfield and Main Streets, and safe pedestrian crossing from the church to their Cultural Center, DPW Director Cignoli began the process of designing infrastructure improvements to enhance the quality of life for the neighborhood, including at this key intersection.  I want to also thank City Councilor Maria Perez for her efforts working with my administration to advance this corridor project in our North End neighborhood too.”
