Mayor Domenic J. Sarno stopped by to see the construction progress of the new parking garage which is currently underway at the former site of the old Civic Center Parking Garage. The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority is in the process of advancing the construction of the new state-of-the-art multi-use parking garage facility.

Mayor Sarno states, “I am pleased to see that progress is underway at the former Civic Center Parking Garage site.  I want to thank the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority for their efforts in making this project a reality.  Our residents and downtown businesses, especially our Springfield Thunderbirds and the MassMutual Center, are excited and thrilled to see activity at this construction site.  When completed, this parking facility will create an additional 800-900 parking spaces for our downtown amenities.  In addition, the multi-use facility will include space for retail and other mixed-use venues to enhance our local entertainment and economic development aspects.”
